The best place for fried fish in the dc area. Fresh fish is delivered to the shop every morning. You pick the fish, and it is scaled, gutted, filleted and cooked to order! Not frozen fish like everywhere else in DC. I was really surprised that you can have them wrap up the fish whole and you can cook it at home. I had the fried rockfish, fried shrimp, and fried oyster. Nothing fancy, just fresh fried seafood. It really doesn't get any better than that. The sides are also limited, but I was there to eat seafood, so it wasn't an issue to me. If I could, I would dock a half star for that. Otherwise, the staff is friendly. Portions are generous, and prices are fair. It's cash-only, but there's an ATM inside. It's also pretty much standing room only, so there's nowhere to sit and eat.

I get take-out from here often. I continue to go back (for 15 years) because: -It's inexpensive; -It's fresh and good; I always go with the catfish platter, but there's more than that--whiting, trout, perch, blue, porgies, snapper, shrimp, oysters--all the usual suspects. The coleslaw, potato salad and hush-puppies are pretty reliable. You get a lot of food, too--big portions. -Ms. Kim, the proprietor, and her family (who serve as staff) and the various long-time cooks try hard to get it right and serve it hot. Potomac Fish House has been in operation for 32 years. I think it's been performing well lately. There's a new menu board, which is welcome. I feel that this fish vendor offers great value for the money. The food can be excellent. There can also be a wait involved. You just never know. This place serves a ton of folks. In addition to prepared foods, fresh fish (not frozen) is also available for sale; and there is a strong demand for it, too. And that's this fish tale. Cash only. Take-out only. It's found just over the DC border, in Mt. Rainier, MD, on Rhode Island Avenue (Route 1), in the same block as the cop station. You can see the "Welcome to DC" sign from there. No way is this Hyattsville, as some other sources on the Internet indicate. Hyattsville is further down the way. There's a good chance I'll be waiting on the bench for my order.

Prices are super reasonable and the portion sizes are good. The staff of friendly and the fish seemed really fresh. They pulled my trout from the window and fried it...nice! I'm nutrition conscious, and the green veggie options are few, hence the reason for me four star rating.

Potomac Fish house and deli, first glimpse of this place; you'll think hole in the wall. Which very well could be a good thing, at least in my experiences. They serve stu-pendous fish at a good price, it's fresh and I'll be coming back more often.

Some very good fried seafood, cooked fresh. Availability of certain fish (esp. trouts & basses) varies with the day's catch. Order plenty of chips, because you'll have a hard time finding better fries. Aside from battered & fried broccoli, there're no veggies available, but that ain't the point. Small staff of this popular mom & pop is often overrun at dinner time, so call ahead to avoid a wait.

Friday night take home spot. Fried red snapper, oysters, potatoes, broccoli. It can get crowded and the wait can be long but the food is fresh, hot and worth it.

Went for the first time today. I'd give them 2 1/2 stars if I could. I got fried shrimp. They were okay. Not Shrimp Boat, and one the small side. The fries were interesting. Tasty. Like taters more than fries. I'll give them another chance soon. Maybe I'll try fish or oysters.

Cash only! I love their fried potatoes and perch fish sandwich. They are a little expensive for a fish spot on RI ave but but the fish is fresh. Be prepared to wait at least 15 to 30 minutes for your food to be prepared.
